This is another reason why I love my country...

Ok, where do I start? First of all, the election was and is a big turning point in USA politics as well as the world. It is history in the making and I am very excited to be a part of it. Could not get tickets to Grant Park but watched it from beginning to end.
Now back to my country, this is a picture taken at a Gas Station, where this person works. One thing you must know about the majority of the population of our country and the Honduran idiosincrasy is that, when something good happens, they must be a part of it. So Barack won, and the rumor going around is this is his lost cousin. It is an uncanny resemblance, though.
This makes me smile and it reminds me that there are many naive souls out there, in the midst of the chaotic violence in the major cities and poverty in the country. Don't take me wrong, it is safe to visit, they love tourist and will make you feel at home, but it is a very poor country and some people are desperate to make ends meet. Honduras is one of the poorest countries in America. I feel for the many people who have lost their jobs in the US as well as those who are trying to get up from one of the biggest recessions in US History, but also reminds of the eternal recession Honduras is in and has been forever. All I can say is I believe you will be ok and this will pass, you know what mistakes have been made and how to start fixing them in order to get a little on track. As for Hondurans, that is another story.
But just looking at the smile of this person's face, holding a picture of Obama, all excited at the look alike, just warms my soul. I have seen this picture 3 times already from different sources, so it has been circulating around. Reminds me of my grandma, who, when Juan Luis Guerra, a dominican singer, became famous, she told us that it is a known fact that we are related. I believed it for a while, ajajaja.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful

Well, it will be a white christmas for us this year. As you know from my previous post, I am from Honduras and my husband Bolivia, and one of our "prenup" agreements was that we would spend one christmas with my family and the following with his. This makes it fair for all. This Christmas is his Christmas, and we are spending it in Chicago. It is currently -1 degree. I have been grinchy this past week, I really miss Christmas at home with my family, but a part of me is secretly excited to spend it as a family, us 4 at our house. I have so many plans with the kids, I have decked my tree, as you see. Sent my xmas ecard, etc. Helped Santa pick out their gifts and wrapped them.

And so I am learning, learning to grow as a person, learning to become a parent, learning teach my kids what family, and our faith is about. Christmas is a symbol of rebirth, rebirth in our hearts...

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone!

My first Blog!

Hi Everyone, I really do not know where to start. There are so many things in my life that I would love to share with everyone, in hopes of inspiring, or entertaining, or as a guide of "What not to..." I guess it will all come together eventually. I must say that I am actually excited to start a blog. Let's start with the basics : demographics.
I was born and raised in Honduras. I am the oldest of 4 kids. Lived in San Pedro Sula, till I was 18, when I was willingly and happily sent to college in Pittsburgh by my parents. I say sent, because this is really comparable to a rite of passage. You study in an American Private school and then you most likely study your undergrad in the US. I majored in Psychology and met my husband at his fraternity, I know, I know, ajaja, graduated, moved back home (Honduras), did the long distance thing for 2 years (sucked), got married, moved to Chile (hubby was working there, he is originally from Bolivia, born and raised), did my Masters in HR in Santiago, graduated, worked at Delta Airlines, had a baby (Seichi). My husband decided to pursue an MBA at Kellogg, got in and we moved to Evanston, Il. Two years later, had my wonderful little girl, Keara, and am now in Real Estate, to be have more flexibility with the kids.

Ok, so, you think you know me? There is so much more between the lines (being an expat twice, my adventure trying to conceive, life's lessons, faith, love, having a child with a genetic difference (don't feel the word disorder as appropriate), love fashion, politics, E entertainment channel and forensics, and have a sense of humor, ...how am I going to decide what to write, I have no clue, maybe this blog will be as much as a mess as my paperwork (it looks organized, but if you lay me off, make sure to give me some time to train the next person, only I know how things go and where). We'll that is it for now, work in progress...
